With 88 speakers, more than 30 sessions and two days packed with insight, innovation and inspiration, our National Modeshift Convention 2026 is set to deliver its most ambitious agenda yet.
Drawing together experts from across transport, public health, education, local government and behavioural change, this year’s programme reflects the power of partnership that sits at the heart of Team Modeshift.
There really is something for everyone.
The convention will also open a little differently this year. Delegates will be welcomed by Active Travel Ambassadors from Bruntcliffe Academy, Leeds, placing young people at the heart of the conversation from the very start. Their involvement reflects a key principle of the Modeshift movement: listening to the next generation, empowering them to share their experiences and taking action based on their ideas.
We’ll have a keynote from Prof Scarlett McNally OBE, whose work has championed the role active travel can play in improving public health outcomes. Delegates will then hear a high-profile panel discussion focused on delivering the strategic priorities of Active Travel England, bringing together leading voices from transport, health and accessibility. Plus, Ed Clancy OBE, Olympian, Active Travel Commissioner and one of Britain’s most successful cyclists, will share his insights on creating environments that make walking, wheeling and cycling easier for everyone.
Across the two days, attendees can tailor their experience to their interests. Sessions will explore school travel, healthcare, cycling, walking, community engagement, behavioural science, commuter travel, innovation funding, accessibility, inclusive cycling and much more. Whether you work in local authorities, education, business, public health or transport planning, the programme offers practical ideas and real-world examples from across the UK.
The strength of the agenda lies not only in its breadth, but also in the collaboration behind it. Speakers represent a diverse mix of organisations, including local authorities, charities, universities, NHS teams, community groups and industry partners. Together, they will share lessons learned, successful projects and fresh thinking that can help shape better journeys nationwide.
Record-Breaking Agenda Set for National Modeshift Convention 2026
One of the standout sessions promises to be 2035 Starts Now: A Conversation with the Commissioners. Hosted by Nick Butler, Modeshift Chief Executive Officer, the panel will bring together some of the UK’s leading Active Travel Commissioners, including Ed Clancy OBE, Simon O’Brien, Beccy Marston and Rhiannon Letman-Wade. Together they will explore the opportunities, challenges and priorities that will shape the future of active travel over the next decade.
Beyond the convention programme, delegates will have opportunities to connect through networking sessions, exhibition time, practical demonstrations, guided tours and of course the Team Modeshift National Travel Awards.
As Team Modeshift marks 25 years of supporting organisations to create better journeys, this year’s convention is more than an event. It is a celebration of the people, partnerships and progress that continue to drive positive change across the UK.
With a record-breaking line-up of speakers and an agenda full of ideas, experience and expertise, Modeshift Convention 2026 is shaping up to be one not to miss.
