CalCommuter helps organisations understand how people commute to work today, and how they could travel tomorrow. We do this with our CalCommuter software platform which uses a short commute survey to produce Personal Commute Plans for individual staff that compare the cost (unique in the market), duration, and emissions of their current commute with viable alternative commutes while helping organisations identify where active travel, public transport, shared transport, and other sustainable travel options are most likely to be successful.
CalCommuter is already used by local authorities, the NHS, regional transport authorities, large private sector employers, and our delivery partners across the UK.
CalCommuter works with local authorities, NHS organisations, regional transport authorities, travel behaviour change partners, colleges, universities, and large employers across the UK.
What are you working on, and what’s next?
We are currently rolling out a new “Active Connections” functionality, helping individuals and organisations better understand opportunities to combine cycling with public transport as a potential commuting option
Alongside this, we are developing new analytics and intelligent follow-up messaging tools that help organisations and advisors better understand where realistic travel behaviour change opportunities exist across a workforce or target group.
We are also exploring how CalCommuter can support employability programmes by helping people starting new jobs better understand their commute options and costs before transport becomes a barrier to employment.
What do you like about being a Corporate Premium Member?
Modeshift brings together organisations that are genuinely focused on improving everyday journeys in practical ways. We’re looking forward to learning from other members, sharing insights from commute data and workplace travel planning projects, and collaborating with organisations working across active travel, behaviour change, and sustainable transport.
Any special offers for Modeshift Members?
CalCommuter is happy to offer a free introductory demo and discussion session for Modeshift members interested in understanding employee commuting patterns, identifying opportunities for walking, wheeling and cycling, whether as complete journeys or as part of public transport commutes, and measuring the impact of workplace travel initiatives.
