Mode Shift Month is in full swing

It’s great to see the enthusiasm, creativity and conversations building across the #TeamModeshift community.

From walking and wheeling to cycling and public transport, organisations across the country are embracing Mobility for Everyone.

Many are encouraging people to think differently about their everyday journeys. Others are creating opportunities to try something new.

We’ve loved seeing your Mode Shift Month activities and stories shared across social media. We’re also enjoying the growing collection of blogs and contributions exploring what mobility for everyone means in practice.

Sharing different perspectives

This year’s focus on intergenerational fairness has encouraged us to think about how our travel experiences change throughout our lives.

It’s also prompted us to consider what we can learn from different generations.

Our Mode Shift Month blogs have brought a range of perspectives to the conversation.

  • Lydia Horbury, Bus Users UK has explored why buses are an important part of the mode shift picture. Lydia’s blog also challenges some of the common myths around bus travel.
  • Sam Robinson, Love to Ride shared his experience and encouraged people to discover the benefits of cycling through Cycle September
  • Tyler Linton from Hackney Council has shared how Amhurst Road is Paving the Way for a Greener Hackney.
  • We’ve also heard from within the Modeshift staff team. Jenny Royall, from the Modeshift team, and Rob Bounds, Modeshift Board Member, have shared their thoughts on this year’s theme and what Mobility for Everyone means to them.

Together, these contributions show that there is no single way to make a mode shift.

The journeys we make can be very different. So can the choices available to us and the barriers we face.

Have you registered your activity?

If you’ve organised an activity, campaign or event as part of Mode Shift Month, there’s still time to register it.

The deadline to register your Mode Shift Month activity is 30 September.

Registering your activity helps us build a picture of what’s happening across the #TeamModeshift community.

It also gives us an opportunity to celebrate the people and organisations making Mode Shift Month happen.

Most importantly, sharing your activity can inspire others. It helps demonstrate the many ways we can make everyday journeys work for everyone.

Register your activity by 30 September

Keep sharing your stories

Mode Shift Month is about bringing people together. So, keep sharing your activities, stories and experiences with us.

Use #ModeShiftMonth and #TeamModeshift on social media and let us know what you’ve been getting up to.

We can’t wait to see more of the great work happening across the community.

And once September comes to an end, we’ll have another opportunity to celebrate the people and ideas behind this year’s activity through the Mode Shift Month Awards.
