This September, Mode Shift Month is celebrating Mobility for Everyone, aligning with the 2026 European Mobility Week theme and its focus on intergenerational fairness.
For Modeshift’s Jenny Royall, who leads the Active Travel Ambassador programme, the theme became personal this summer when she took her dad to a Wheels for All session at Ride Canvey.
The session gave him the opportunity to try cycling in a safe, supportive environment, with adapted bikes and trained leaders available to help people ride at their own pace.
And he loved it.
‘He really was beaming as he was cycling around.’
Jenny’s experience is a great reminder that a Mode Shift doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. It could be walking to school with your children, cycling with a parent, trying public transport for the first time or finding a new way to make a journey accessible.
This September, we’re asking #TeamModeshift: what could your Mode Shift Month look like?
Make your pledge, get involved and share your activities as part of Mode Shift Month.
