This September, Mode Shift Month is once again bringing people together to celebrate walking, wheeling, cycling and public transport for everyday journeys.
Cycle September is back – and everyone can get involved
One of the highlights of this year’s campaign is Cycle September, delivered by Love to Ride. Ahead of our Mode Shift Month Team Talk on 14 July, Sam Robinson from Love to Ride shares why this year’s challenge is all about making cycling accessible for everyone and how you can get involved.
Mobility for everyone
By Sam Robinson, Love to Ride
There’s something special about riding a bike. It might be the freedom of your first ride as a child, the fresh air on your commute, or the chance to enjoy the school run with your family. Cycling helps us connect with our communities in a way that few other forms of transport can.
That’s why we’re excited to be part of Mode Shift Month once again through Cycle September, our global workplace cycling challenge.
This year, our campaign aligns perfectly with the Mode Shift Month theme of Mobility for Everyone.
For transport to work for everyone, cycling must feel safe, comfortable and accessible at every stage of life. It’s not just about confident commuters. It’s about creating places where children can cycle to school, parents can ride with confidence and people of all ages can choose the bike for everyday journeys.
Helping improve local routes
One way we’re doing this is through our Rate My Routes feature.
Participants can rate the routes they use, highlighting where cycling feels safe and where improvements are needed. Every journey helps build a clearer picture of what’s working and where investment is needed.
Whether you’re cycling to work, school or the shops, your experience can help shape better cycling infrastructure for everyone.
Join the challenge
Our ambition for Cycle September is bigger than ever. This year, we’re aiming to inspire more than 50,000 people to get on their bikes.
Whether you’re a regular rider, returning after a break or cycling for the first time in years, everyone is welcome.
Participants earn points for riding, logging journeys and rating routes. There are also prizes throughout the month, including rewards for people who encourage friends, family or colleagues to get back on a bike.
Together, we can create a stronger cycling community and help make everyday journeys healthier, easier and more enjoyable.
