These Awards champion the best of the best! An inspiring mix of individuals, schools, business settings, healthcare organisations, and residential developments who are all dedicated to enhancing everyday journeys and enabling more people to walk, wheel, cycle, and use public transport.

STARS Residential National Site of the Year

Our Modeshift STARS Residential scheme recognises organisations that have delivered effective Residential Travel Plans for new developments. This growing scheme saw 16 sites achieve accreditation in 2023/24, with our nominees for the 2024/25 Award having achieved either the Excellent Travel Plan or Very Good Travel Plan levels of accreditation.

The Linmere development is an urban extension comprising of up to 5,150 dwellings, retail units, offices, and industrial use. The site also includes a school, a hotel, and community and leisure facilities. The Travel Plan aims to create a sustainable, community driven environment for residents which promotes a range of lifestyle and travel choices and reduces reliance on private car use. Key objectives include reducing the level of vehicle ownership, reducing the number of single occupancy vehicle trips to and from the site, and increasing awareness and use of sustainable modes of transport.

The Bidwell West development will consist of up to 1,850 homes along with 2 Primary Schools, employment land, a local centre with retail, leisure and community facilities, and a care home. The Travel Plan aims to improve the environment by reducing the level of vehicle ownership of residents, increasing the use of sustainable modes of transport, and reducing single occupancy trips. Their working group is well established and a range of travel and supporting initiatives have been delivered.

This development comprises of up to 3,000 dwellings, up to 2,000 student bed spaces, and 100,000 square metres of employment floorspace, which includes commercial, academic, retail, and senior living space. The site has a range of facilities including a community centre, indoor sports provision, schools, and a hotel. The Travel Plan has clear aims and objectives centred around reducing the number of single occupancy car journeys and promoting sustainable forms of transport to promote healthier lifestyles and sustainable, vibrant local communities. The site has delivered a range of initiatives, led by a well-established working group.
