These Awards champion the best of the best! An inspiring mix of individuals, schools, business settings, healthcare organisations, and residential developments who are all dedicated to enhancing everyday journeys and enabling more people to walk, wheel, cycle, and use public transport.

STARS Business National Site of the Year
This award recognises workplace settings that achieved Modeshift STARS accreditation in the 2023/24 accreditation year. 117 organisations achieved accreditation over the course of the year, and 3 sites, all of whom achieved the Very Good Travel Plan level of STARS Business accreditation, were nominated for the Award.

The company’s travel and transport policies include positive behavioural change initiatives, cycle to work schemes, and car share schemes. To date, a wide range of initiatives have been delivered around cycle promotion and reducing car use as well as using smarter working practices like flexible working.

The Stansted Area Transport Forum has been established to develop and oversee the delivery of the airports Travel Plan. The group have successfully delivered new transport initiatives, forged strong partnerships, and changed the way that people travel to and from the airport. They aim to deliver high quality and reliable transport infrastructure with sustainable travel choices for both passengers and employees by improving connectivity and supporting the delivery of the region’s transport priorities. The Travel Plan includes a range of initiatives including flexible and remote working, a cycle to work scheme, public transport season tickets, and car sharing incentives.

The University of Birmingham Travel Plan, developed by the Safe Campus Travel & Transport Group, has been key to achieving a reduction in single car occupancy to the site, and an increase in walking, cycling and train journeys. The Travel Plan has provided an understanding of how staff and students travel, giving a focus for delivering initiatives to address key issues such as reducing carbon emissions and ensuring walking, cycling, and public transport are safe and accessible options for all.
