Modeshift STARS National Travel Awards 25/26

Nominee: Great Wisley Park, Suffolk County Council

This Travel Plan focuses on the first phase of 899 new residential units and creates links with new and existing local amenities a short walk or cycle away. The Travel Plan ensures that there is cycle parking available at each property, accessible footpaths, and cycle links to the road network and neighbouring communities and amenities. The initiatives that have been delivered include a carpooling scheme, cycle maps and travel vouchers for public transport. This Travel Plans main aim is to increase awareness of positive travel choices.

Nominee: Oakfield Campus

Community engagement is at the core of this Travel Plan, ensuring that people who live, work, and visit the site have a say in what happens. Household packs are provided which promote public transport options, carpooling, and cycle routes. Various events have been delivered including Catch the Bus Week, and a Halloween spooky cycle orienteering event, all of which are promoted through letters, postcards, Personalised Travel Planning, and maps.

Nominee: Wichelstow, Swindon Borough Council

Wichelstowe prioritises engaging residents to promote sustainable travel and reduce the impact of 4,000 new homes. Fewer people now travel by single occupancy car, supported by initiatives such as the Green Trail walking route and the Boardwalk, linking homes with key amenities. A car club, planned sports hub and cycle centre further encourage active and sustainable travel. Cycle maintenance sessions have also been delivered, as well as events like Catch the Bus Week, backed by clear public transport guides and passenger information.
