Are your pupils ready to #PowerUp? Walk to School Week is back for 2022, taking place week commencing 16 May. This year’s challenge, #PowerUp, will engage pupils through video game-inspired design, encouraging them to travel sustainably to school every day of the week. Each day will see a level unlocked and a new mission to complete, through which pupils will discover the incredible benefits of walking for individuals, communities and the planet.
Living Streets, the UK charity for every day walking is behind Walk to School week is reminding everyone how important it is that we keep roads around schools safe from dangerous traffic and air pollution. Walking, wheeling, cycling and scooting to school can help us achieve that while also helping children meet the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity a day and improving mental health and concentration levels.
Pupils will be encouraged to travel sustainably to school every day of the week, tracking their progress each day on the fun and interactive classroom wallchart and earning stickers as they go along, with an extra special reward up for grabs at the end!
Last year, a record number of over 350,000 pupils across the UK took part! Join this growing movement of children walking to school and help make 2022 the biggest year yet!
