2025
I previously worked for over 20 plus years as a primary school teacher in various authorities, that have included Calderdale, Kent and Leicestershire. I loved my role working with children and daily would be inspired by their curiosity, enthusiasm, and all that they achieved. I particularly enjoyed encouraging children to become more active within/outside of school and educating them about caring for the environment. In the past, I have also worked as a baby/child swim teacher within Calderdale, which was extremely rewarding.
I am extremely passionate about being active and the importance of caring for our environment. There are so many benefits to our health, well-being and communities that can be gained through Active Travel. I wanted to be involved with an organisation that promotes positive behaviour change, getting more people active and outdoors. Small changes to our everyday journeys really can make a big difference! As an education officer, working with schools, I can have real impact, helping the adults of the future and our environment!
I am a keen triathlete, so running, swimming and cycling are big passions of mine. I love the stunning scenery of the Lake District and can be regularly found hiking up many of the 214 Wainwright’s Fells with my husband. We’ve just completed our 200th fell, so only 14 more to go! I thrive on a challenge, and have completed a 100km canoe across Scotland, the London Marathon, and last year, swam the 5.25mile of Coniston Water for charity. When I’m not being active, I love meeting up with friends for a good coffee and a chat.
