This week we are delighted to introduce Jo Atkins, Modeshift Regional Representative for the South West.

Jo takes over the board position from Aimee-Claire, we would like to give Jo a huge Team Modeshift welcome and special thanks to Aimee-Claire for all your hard work!

Position: Regional Representative, South West

Year joined the board: 2022

Work: Gloucestershire County Council

Career history: I have worked in behaviour change for over 20 years on ‘community led’ environmental programmes for the public and voluntary sectors including Sustrans in York and across the South West. I led on developing a Modeshift award winning grass roots programme called York Bike Belles  #Travelwithtots. I currently head up the Thinktravel team In Gloucestershire working with schools, businesses & communities to create healthy lifestyles and environments through active travel.

Why did you join the Modeshift Board?

From a young age, I have been passionate about our environment and empowering communities to affect change and so I was keen to get more involved at the regional and national level as I believe in Team Modeshift and its core values! I feel I can bring, enthusiasm, dedication and experience from across the UK (and internationally) to the table too.

Outside of Modeshift

I love being outdoors (preferably in the sunshine) and hanging out with my family and friends frequently enjoying walks in around the lovely Cotswolds. I take the opportunity to cycle everywhere I go whether to work, a swim in Cheltenham’s amazing lido, a game of tennis, or a trip to the Pub!  The sea and the beach is my absolute ‘happy place’ so we ‘hot foot’ it to the coast whenever possible and go for a sail on our 15ft sailor trailer.
