Love to Ride and the Power of Partnerships
Jo Atkins and Mishael Gbejewoh, ThinkTravel Coordinator & Active Travel Officer at Thinktravel Service, Gloucestershire County Council will present during ‘The Wheel Revolution’ session at the National Modeshift Convention on Wednesday 26 November.
Here they share what we can expect from their presentation on the cycle revolution in Gloucestershire:
We at Gloucestershire County Council are looking to make every day wheeling or cycling the norm by extended the narrative ‘one ride, one story changes a community each time!’
‘Gloucestershire’s Cycling revolution’ centres around the importance and power of partnerships, shared vision and innovative campaigns like Love To Ride’s Cycle September.
We focus the Thinktravel Modeshift Convention 2025 presentation over the last 3 years on Love To Ride’s ‘Cycle September’ Campaign building an organic community cycling culture making active journeys easier and enjoyable for every-one connected to new and emerging infra-structure.
September 2025 was Gloucestershire County Council’s biggest community cycling campaign on record enabling a tripling of engagement and a 55% increase in recorded transport trips creating a revolution and a ‘dynamite effect’!
Gloucestershire is pedalling its way into a cleaner, healthier future.
Partnership in Action
At the heart of this success was our partnership with Love to Ride, a platform that makes cycling fun, social, and accessible. Through gamified challenges, workplace competitions, and personal goal-setting, Love to Ride helped us reach new audiences—from seasoned cyclists to first-time riders.
The jewel in the Crown? Creating a cycling community by extending the narrative across a diverse range of partnerships from different sectors to maximise the Resource, Reach and Results through increased participation.
Together, we:
- Engaged new audiences reaching hundreds of new riders across the county
- Logged tens of thousands of miles
- Saved significant CO₂ emissions
- Fostered a sense of community through shared stories and achievements
- The numbers speak for themselves, but the stories behind them are even more powerful.
Looking Ahead: Modeshift Convention
As we head into the Modeshift Convention, we’re proud to showcase Gloucestershire’s Cycling revolution as a model for partnership-led success.
Our message is clear: When we collaborate, we don’t just move people—we move mindsets.
Be Curious – Discussion points
