Chris Pryor
Position: Active Travel Ambassador Programme Manager
Year joined Modeshift: June 2022
Career history:
Before becoming an ATA Coordinator I was an Active Travel/Modeshift Officer in Rotherham and Doncaster. This was a fantastic job which involved visiting primary schools to promote safe and active travel and delivering activities such as Learn to Ride, Scooter Skills and Dr Bike. I loved delivering the sessions particularly when bikes and scooters were involved.
Prior to this I spent 20 years at Royal Mail in various support services such as HR, Finance, Reporting and Regulatory positions. It was quite a change going from 20 years behind a desk to teaching Primary school children how to ride a bike. I know which I prefer!!
Why did you join Team Modeshift?
Having been made redundant I had a fantastic opportunity to do something more rewarding and to do something where I could make a change for the better. I was lucky enough to get the role as an ATO opening my eyes to the world of Active Travel and the importance of behavioural changes. Being an ATA Coordinator gives me the opportunity to continue to deliver this message and to hopefully make an impact.
Outside of Modeshift:
I love going for walks and spending time outdoors with my family and border terrier Buddy. Unfortunately, Buddy has a very different opinion and spends most of his life in the pursuit of the comfiest place to sleep and does not enjoy the great outdoors or going for walks for that matter! In 2012 I completed the Oxfam Trail Trekker challenge covering 100km in 24hrs across North Yorkshire raising over £3000. I’m a keen footballer having spent almost a decade coaching my son’s football team. More recently I have taken up golf which I was warned would be come an obsession and has. I just need to learn how to play it now!
