Matthew Scott

Position: South East Regional Executive

Year joined Modeshift:

2025

Place of work:

Buckinghamshire Council

Career history:

I’ve worked in transport planning since 2019, starting out as an undergraduate transport planner at WSP before progressing to graduate and assistant roles. During that time, I gained experience across a wide range of projects from junction modelling and public consultation to business case development and policy writing. Since 2023, I’ve been at Buckinghamshire Council, where I lead on workplace and residential travel planning, manage feasibility studies for active travel schemes, and support strategic transport policy development.

Why did you join Modeshift:

I’ve always been passionate about making sustainable transport the easy choice for people. Modeshift’s work in promoting behaviour change and supporting travel planning aligns perfectly with my own values and professional focus. Joining Modeshift gives me the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals, share best practice, and help raise the profile of active and sustainable travel especially in the development planning space where I believe there’s huge potential to influence long-term travel behaviour.

Outside of Modeshift:

Outside of work, I’m a keen walker and love heading out into the hills for a good hike, especially when it involves camping overnight and ticking off a few peaks. I am a keen football fan and also manage a Sunday league football team in Buckinghamshire, which keeps me busy (and occasionally stressed!) at the weekends.
