Position: London Executive

Year joined Modeshift:

April 2025

Place of work:

Royal Borough of Greenwich

Career history:

While pursuing my master’s degree, I volunteered at my son’s school, delivering Kerb Craft, a pedestrian skills training program designed for young children. Shortly after submitting my dissertation and feeling a sense of urgency to secure employment, an opening for the Kerb Craft Coordinator position at the local council became available. A few months later, I joined the Road Safety team in Greenwich, and within a year, I assumed responsibility for the School Travel Plan program. This was twenty years ago. Engaging with schools to develop and implement their Travel Plans, strategies, and initiatives aimed at reducing congestion, enhancing road safety, and promoting active travel has proven to be both challenging and enjoyable. Additionally, my involvement in delivering Safer Routes to School engineering schemes and School Streets adds versatility and intrigue to my role.

Why did you join Modeshift:

I’ve been member of Modeshift since its beginning, and it has had a vital role in my professional journey, helping me to stay on top of new research and developments. It’s an excellent forum for exchanging best practices across the nation. It thrives with like-minded individuals, all united in a common vision: to transform travel and, by extension, our communities into greener, cleaner, safer, and more pleasant spaces. With many years working in Road Safety and School Travel Plans, I carry a wealth of experience ready to be shared. Thus, when the opportunity to join the board as London Executive presented itself, it was an easy decision to accept the role.

Outside of Modeshift:

When I’m off the clock, you might spot me walking in Greenwich Park or catch me strutting my stuff in a local Zumba class.
