Mode Shift Month – Celebrating Everyday Journeys
September saw the launch of the very first Mode Shift Month and what a success it was!
This new, month-long celebration of walking, wheeling, cycling, car sharing and public transport brought together #TeamModeshift members across the country to inspire more people to make sustainable travel part of their everyday lives.
From local school challenges and business travel campaigns to community cycling events and car-free days, it’s been fantastic to see so many creative ways of helping people rethink their journeys.
There was fantastic Mode Shift Month activity from: Citisense, Darlington Borough Council, SAJ Transport consultants, HITRANS, Luton Point, Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, Travel Hull, Hull City Council, Yorkshire Coast Community Rail Partnership, Travel Smart (Derbyshire), Derwent Valley Community Line Partnership, Swindon Travel Choices, and Bradford Council.
Campaigns promoted during the month included:
Mode Shift Month ran alongside European Mobility Week (EMW), with this year’s shared theme Mobility for Everyone – highlighting the importance of making sustainable transport accessible and inclusive for all.
By taking part in Mode Shift Month, participants were also automatically registered for EMW — one form, double the impact!
