Caz Conneller: Director of Community & Culture at Loud Mobility and formerly Founder and Director of Cyclechic.
‘I live in Faversham, Kent and whilst I still find my car useful for certain journeys I ride my e-bike for a lot of my local day-to-day journeys, school run, commuting and trip into town for shopping and errands. I’ve been cycling as a key mode of transport for shorter journeys’ for around 17 years now and its bought so many benefits to my life.
What motivates you to try and travel actively and sustainably?
Travelling by bike and e-bike makes me feel like part of the future. It also energises me and I am inspired by others around me. I joined the LCC’s Women’s Freedom ride last weekend and be around so many women on bikes was hugely inspiring! The sense of community is very encouraging.
How would you encourage others to be a Team Modeshift Travel Champion?
We are running a national campaign called She’s Electric to enable and inspire more women to try electric bikes. Our research shows that electric bikes very enabling and help women overcome many common barriers to cycling. I’d say to anyone thinking about cycling but with worried and barriers to come along to one of our events. We will be creating a safe supportive space to come learn, talk and try…’
