Modeshift interviewed Honorary Member Carla Leowe, Road Safety Officer at Westminster Council, to find out about current sustainable travel projects and much more.

How long have you been involved in sustainable travel?

13 years in Sustainable Travel and Road Safety; 5 years in LB Newham and 8 in Westminster which is my current post and includes Air Quality.

What have you most enjoyed about your job?

The variety and every day is different, which means I am never bored, even if inundated with work!

What are you working on now and what’s next?

Working on progressing School Streets which is part of Westminster’s Active Streets Programme. Looking to progress up to 9 School Streets in 2021.

What do you like about being a member of Modeshift?

It offers a professional network for transport colleagues where we can share knowledge, experience and gain ideas on projects. Modeshift also allows us to read up-to-date information about sustainable travel news and is a voice for those working hard to increase participation and highlight the good work that is happening throughout the UK.
