As a leading membership organisation for sustainable travel practitioners, Modeshift wish to recognise individuals for their contribution to our organisation and the wider field of sustainable travel.
This is why we have launched our own Team Modeshift Honorary Members scheme. Team Modeshift Honorary Membership is a lifetime title that is granted to individuals that have made an outstanding contribution to the development and expansion of the organisation, and/or the implementation of its aims and objectives. Their contributions locally, regionally and nationally over a significant period of time will have played some part in raising the profile of shared objectives and ensured that the work of Modeshift is recognised by others outside of their respective organisation.
In November this year, Modeshift recognised 22 members that been involved in supporting and sharing best practice or volunteering for Modeshift and supporting its objectives. One in particular was Rob Bounds of Derbyshire County Council. Rob has been involved with Modeshift for over 15 years and has sat on the Modeshift Board for nine of those years as the Midlands Regional Representative. Over the past 15 years Rob has been figurehead for our organisation, sharing best practice, growing our partnerships, making active travel fun and leading on our inclusivity plans.
At our awards evening on November 4th, Rob was recognised as an Honorary Member and handed our prestige ‘Contribution to Sustainable Travel’ award. Upon collecting the award this is what Rob had to say;
“Well Modeshift 2021 was a convention to remember! As ever it was a fantastic opportunity to hear about some brilliant projects and initiatives, not to mention the chance to catch up and network with familiar faces as well as meet new people. It was an even greater surprise and honour to receive recognition for my contribution to sustainable travel. It’s been a privilege to serve on the Modeshift board and to be a part of the Team Modeshift family. But I’m not going anywhere – I’m really looking forward to supporting Modeshift with its continuing work around equality, diversity and inclusion. And of course, I hope to see some of you soon at the regional meetings and at the Modeshift 2022 convention! “
In early 2022, Modeshift will publish more information about its Honorary Members scheme. You can find out more and view a list of existing members by visiting https://modeshift.org.uk/about-us/honorary-members/
