This research forms the first phase of a wider study on general public attitudes to low-traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) and the outcomes they are designed to achieve. Phase 2 will consider residents’ opinions in local areas with schemes installed.

LTNs are delivered by local authorities and financed by the emergency active travel fund, created in May 2020, which aims to increase the number of people travelling on foot and bike, and reduce reliance on public transport while COVID-19 social distancing restrictions are in place.
