Following the success of The Bikeability Trust’s Innovation Fund supporting projects to help children with Special Education Needs and/or disabilities access Bikeability training, we are pleased to announce that more than £1 million of funding is now available to help support projects that will help many other children learn how to ride a bike.
In 2020 the Prime Minster stated his ambition to offer cycle training to every child who wants it, The Bikeability Trust are committed in helping to achieve this. Bikeability is often the first step in embedding children’s love and joy of cycling and The Trust has a vision – for everybody to have the confidence to cycle and enjoy this skill for life.
Last year, The Trust released £300,000 from our own Innovation Fund, which made a hugely positive impact and helped fund 18 cycle projects for children with Special Education Needs or disabilties. They are now looking to reach even more children who have not accessed training.
The Widening Participation Fund is open to any pilot projects that will inspire and enable these children to access Bikeability. Applications are open to any organisation that can demonstrate the capability to address the fund’s criteria, not just our grant recipients. Please share the details of this fund to any organisation you believe would be interested in applying for the funding. Full details of these criteria can be found in the Widening Participation Guidance Document.
