This is week two of our interviews featuring each of our Board Members, so you can find out more about them. Each interview will include why they are involved in sustainable travel, what they like about being part of Modeshift and much more. This week meet Modeshift’s Regional Representative for the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside.
How long have you been involved in sustainable travel?
Since 2004. I have worked for Sheffield City Council with secondments to DfE and the DfT.
What have you most enjoyed about your job?
All the fun stuff. Walk to school events with the Circus and Histrionics, Scooter Skills sessions (loved it when I got my very own adult scooter to run the sessions with!). Helping families to ditch the car for the school run and seeing the difference both for them and the school as a whole. I really enjoy working with our current team of ModeshiftSTARS Officers and Active Travel Officers across South Yorkshire. With the National Modeshift Primary School of the year on our patch and the Winners of the Best Sustainable Travel Initiative in this years awards – they are definitely a force to be reckoned with!
What are you working on now and what’s next?
School Streets are coming (very slowly) to Sheffield. I am really excited to get some of these built and implemented in 2021.
What do you like about being on the Modeshift Board?
It is great to be part of such an enthusiastic, knowledgeable & dedicated team. I also love the social after the meetings!
