Week 8 of our interviews featuring each of our Board Members. This week you can find out more about Denise Adolphe, Modeshift’s Communications Representative.
How long have you been involved in sustainable travel?
I have been involved in sustainable travel since March 2012 when I joined London Borough of Haringey as a Communications and Consultation Manager with a responsibility for the Smarter Travel Programme. The Programme grew and soon became my main focus. In October 2018 I changed roles and I am now a Business Manager for Highways and Parking.
What have you most enjoyed about your job?
No two days are ever the same, both in my previous role and now. I love the variety of working on lots of different projects.
What are you working on now and what’s next?
I don’t work directly in active, safe and responsible travel anymore, however in my personal life I like to practice what I preach. This includes cycling my son to school every day and cycling or walking instead of driving where possible. Last year I was in a cycling film with my family for TfL. In April 2021 we made another cycling film, this time for the Bikeability Trust which can be viewed at Bikeability | Cycle Training | Essential Cycling Skills For Families
What do you like about being on the Modeshift Board?
I love working with a team who are extremely passionate about sustainable travel. Our Board give up their time to help support our members with news, events, products, services, solutions and best practice that will help them to promote active, safe and responsible travel to their key audiences and create real modeshift away from the private car.
