This week we are delighted to introduce Alice Thatcher, Modeshift Regional Representative for North East, Yorkshire and Humberside.

Alice takes over the board position from Ben Stokes, we would like to give Alice a Team Modeshift welcome!

Position: Regional Representative for North East, Yorkshire and Humberside

Year joined the board: 2022

Place of work: City of York Council, Travel Planning Officer

Career history:  I’ve worked on behaviour change projects for 12 years, initially covering education of migration, then conservation and empowering harder to reach communities.  In 2017 I set up a project teaching refugee women to cycle in York. Since, I’ve committed my time to supporting underrepresented groups to walk and cycle more. At CYC I am working on a mixture of projects such as E-Cycle Switch and a cycle training project at the local Mosque (both Modeshift award winning projects, I’m proud to share!).

Why I joined the board: I joined the board as I wanted to be part of a community of like-minded, passionate people who can inspire and support me to encourage more people to change their travel behaviour.

Personal: I have a young daughter who is a joy. I am an advocate of breastfeeding and volunteer as a peer supporter for a local York charity. I’m a sucker for a house renovation project. I love all things bicycle related, including fixing and collecting bikes and enjoy a spot of cycle touring across the country and beyond. I’m a terrible baker but I can make a mean curry!
