Join us at the Bikeability Conference

 

The Bikeability conference is back! We’re looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new people as we look at the importance of innovation and inclusivity in the world of Bikeability.

 

The conference will take place on Thursday 24 February from 9:30am – 4pm at Eastside Rooms, Birmingham. Grant recipients, training providers and instructors are all invited to attend. Tickets are £25 and available via Eventbrite.

 

We’ve got an exciting agenda planned, with keynote speakers, panel discussions and plenty of opportunities to network with your peers and connect with the Bikeability Trust team.

  • Isabelle Clement MBE, Director of Wheels for Wellbeing

  • Emma McLoughlin, Bikeability instructor and winner of the Rising Star Award

 

• Training children with SEND – findings from the Bikeability Trust’s Innovation Fund with Catherine Purcell, Cardiff University and Kate Wilmut, Oxford  Brookes University

 

• Improving children’s on road cycling with immersive reality with Dr. Dan Bishop, Brunel University

• Series of workshops on how innovation and inclusivity can support Bikeability including:

– Making Sessions Fun and Inspiring at Level 1 with Tina Walker, Bikeability instructor trainer

– Special Education Needs in a Mainstream Setting with Claire Edmeades, Special Education Needs Coordinator, Forest Academy

– Immersive Reality: Bikeability Instructors Experience with Dr Dan Bishop and Bikeability instructors

 

After the conference the venue bar will be open for you to network and socialise if you wish.

Public Transport

The Eastside Rooms is centrally located:

18 minutes’ walk from Birmingham New Street Station

13 minutes’ walk from Birmingham Moor Street Station

20 minutes to Birmingham Coach Station

 

Active Travel

For those of you travelling by bicycle, secure storage is available for folding bikes inside the venue and a secure area is available underneath the venue for parking other cycles.

West Midlands Cycle Hire is available in Birmingham with prices starting at £1 for pedal cycles and £1.50 for e-cycles. There is a docking point outside both train stations and close to the venue. Find out more about prices.

 

Driving

Eastside Rooms is now within Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone. This means you may be responsible for paying fees if you drive a car to the venue. You can find out more if your car is subject to the clean air charge at brumbreathes.co.uk.

Parking for the Eastside Rooms is available at Millennium Point Multi-Storey Car Park (B4 7AP). 

 

Accommodation 

If you require accommodation before or after the conference, the Eastside Rooms is associated with the Aloft Hotel. Conference guests can access a cheaper rate with this booking link.

Coronavirus 

We are working with the venue to make the conference as safe as possible. You can see The Eastside Rooms latest covid 19 policy here. 

We will not be asking for your NHS Covid Pass as these are only required for events with more than 500 people. However, there are a few things you can do to help us all keep safe during the conference:

  • we recommend you take a lateral flow test before arrival
  • regularly wash your hands during the day
  • masks are not compulsory at the venue but you may wear one if you wish
