Summertime Town Centre Cycle Events

This summer our Corporate Premium Members Brightwayz have been bringing fun and vibrancy to their local town centre in Kettering, North Northants with a range of active travel activities.

With trikes and bikes for all ages and abilities to ‘have a go’, free ‘learn to ride’ professional support for children and adults, cycle fixing and even a street theatre performance – ‘Get Up and Go! The Active Travel Show’, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained.

The activities were funded by Kettering Town Council with the free cycle service part of the Cycling UK Big Bike Revival. Brightwayz have been collaborating with many different partners across the town to provide ongoing support and promotion for active travel. This is all part of their Get Down to Town continued programme of activities which support their town centre travel plan. The Kettering town centre travel plan is the first ever to achieve Modeshift STARS accreditation.

Brightwayz founder Alison Holland said: ‘We really hope the focus on active travel we have brought into Kettering town centre will be replicated elsewhere. It’s a great way to bring much-needed footfall and vitality to our town centres’.
