Dear members,
We have some sad news to share with you all. On 9 August 2024, aged 66 years, Cathie Friar passed away at Dove House Hospice in the company of her loving family.
As the Modeshift family pays tribute to Cathie, we are all saddened to hear the news of her passing. Cathie was an inspiration to our Members. She had a genuine caring warmth and a smile that could brighten any persons day. The impact that she had across the team, and across the country was phenomenal.
There are not enough words to sum up how important Cathie was to Modeshift over the years, always going above and beyond without a word of complaint, supporting the team, our Executive Board, and anyone that she came into contact with. Cathie was passionate about her job, working tirelessly to achieve results and, this never changed. Cathie would win national awards, deliver excellence, bring about positive change for schools, children, families and communities and she was never in it for the glory, she was in it for others. Her days at the East Riding of Yorkshire Council helped establish the Modeshift STARS scheme nationally, and as part of the Modeshift Delivery Team, her tireless efforts supported thousands of people to live in a better world.
Cathie announced her retirement from East Riding Of Yorkshire in 2020 and we were over the moon when she accepted a part-time position working for Modeshift. She immediately made an impact, elevating our organisation and contributing to our growing success. We cannot speak highly enough of Cathie during her time with Modeshift and it was a sad day when she left us earlier in the year, she was a constant source of guidance and inspiration. It was a great loss to our industry, yet, she has left her mark and a legacy that will live on throughout Team Modeshift.
Cathie was a true Modeshift STAR and will forever be an integral part of Team Modeshift. She will be missed by us all x
