How schools are increasing sustainable travel using pupil power!
The pupils at Frieth CE school in Henley upon Thames have made a video to get parents to reduce traffic, air pollution and carbon on the school run by signing up to HomeRun, the school run behaviour change platform.

Cutting C02 emissions, congestion around schools, and air pollution is hard work, and difficult for often under-resourced schools. However, the eco-team at Frieth School in Henley upon Thames are working with their teachers to do just that.
The school launched HomeRun, at the beginning of 2024, with a video from their eco-team and the response has been huge.
We’ve had double the normal amount of parent sign-ups in the first month, said Pooya Kamvari, CEO of HomeRun.
“This is why it’s so great to get the children’s support. It helps adults understand how important it is to reduce car-use and carbon emissions from the school run. And it’s this parental engagement – signing up to the app – that lets us collect a baseline level of school run data, and enable more sustainable travel options, with very little effort from the school.”

The school run is the single biggest contributor to the morning rush hour and air pollution.

The school run is one third of a school’s C02 footprint.

In 2023 150 schools signed up to HomeRun, saving 350,000 school run miles, equal to 14 trips around the world. This is equal to removing 250 tonnes of C02, or 12,000 mature trees. ???
