Pindar Creative Develops Active Travel Maps for Oxfordshire Schools
Modeshift Corporate Premium Member Pindar Creative has developed active travel maps for two Oxfordshire schools: Barley Hill School in Thame and Shrivenham Church of England Primary School. These maps are designed to encourage sustainable travel habits and promote walking and cycling among pupils and their families.
Both maps include fun facts about the local area, top tips for staying safe while travelling actively, and details of designated Park and Stride sites to make sustainable travel more accessible. Park and Stride sites encourage families to park a short distance from the school and complete their journey on foot, reducing congestion near the school gates and promoting a healthier lifestyle.
In addition, the Shrivenham Church of England School map highlights a ‘Parent Parking Pledge’ encouraging parents to commit to safer and greener travel behaviours, and the Barley Hill School’s map complements active travel efforts in Thame, supporting the town’s ongoing Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) developments.
Pindar Creative specialises in creating engaging and accessible travel resources, such as maps and guides, that empower communities to adopt sustainable travel choices. By highlighting safe walking and cycling routes, Park and Stride options, and other practical measures, Pindar Creative works closely with schools, councils, and local organisations to make sustainable travel convenient and enjoyable.
Jill Tinsley, Commercial Director at Pindar Creative, commented:
We feel privileged to work on projects like these that make sustainable travel a viable option for families. Helping schools and communities adopt healthier, greener travel habits is at the heart of what we do, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact these resources can have.
These maps align with Oxfordshire County Council’s vision to expand active travel options through their Strategic Active Travel Network (SATN) and LCWIPs. By fostering walking and cycling, these initiatives aim to create safer, more sustainable communities while reducing car dependency.
