Meet the Modeshift Team - Heather Bolton

Modeshift BoardJob title: Transport Planner, Telford & Wrekin Council

Modeshift Board Responsibility: Treasurer

How long have you been with Modeshift? Since 2005!

If you could only choose to promote one way to travel, what would it be and why? Walking. It’s part of everyday life and a great way to get to know the area you live and work in. It also links to other forms of transport such as the bus and train.

Tell us something we didn’t know about you? I’ve been to the Cook Islands, in the South Pacific Ocean. There are 15 islands in total and we stayed on Rarotonga, the largest island which has a population of around 13,000. It has one round the island road which is 20 miles long.

What’s your biggest work achievement to date? Although some time ago now, it was getting all Telford & Wrekin schools to adopt and implement a school travel plan under the DFT and DFE Travelling to School Initiative.

What do you do for fun? Completing art trails in different towns and cities is a favourite family activity! Over the years we have found dragons, Snowdog, owls, bears, wolves, ducks and Shaun the Sheep. This summer we plan to find giraffes in Worcester, robins in Nottingham, bees in Manchester, and Wallace, Gromit and Feathers McGraw in Bristol. They are great fun!
