The job itself

We are looking for an outgoing, confident individual to undertake a significant role within our award winning Transport Development Team.

The role will support the Road Safety Officer in the day-to-day engagement and delivery of the objectives outlined in the in the Capability Fund Bid. The successful applicant will be required to work with schools, businesses, and communities to support the increase in cycling and walking whilst also supporting colleagues across the wider Transport Development Team.

You must possess relevant qualifications/experience and be able to work on your own initiative, in a supportive team environment.

The post requires good IT skills along with strong communication skills, ideally with customer service experience. A background in road safety/sustainable travel delivery and/or working with school children and business, communities/parish councils would be advantageous, but not essential. The successful applicant will be required to liaise between the general public, schools, business, Parish/Town Councils and engineers to ensure, where possible and practicable, any road safety measures incorporate the views of all stakeholders.

The successful applicant must be an experienced and confident cyclist, as they will be required to undertake Bikeability/ride leader training and will also need to assist team colleagues in varies cycle/road safety and sustainable travel related activities.

A full driving licence and access to a car, or another suitable form of transport is essential.

This post is for a fixed term of 12 months. Though there is the possibility of the post being extended until 2025 as part of the Government’s ‘Gear Change policy’, if the applicant exceeds project outcomes, subject to funding. This role is well suited for an individual who enjoys a challenge and wants to make a difference to communities and residents, employees and children.
