Citisense is a specialist traffic design consultancy and traffic data collection company delivering innovative transport solutions to public and private sector clients across the UK.

They are offering a 3–6 month Internship focused on kerbside and parking management schemes. This opportunity is ideal for an aspiring engineering technician looking to gain hands-on experience working on live projects across multiple UK local authorities.

About the Role

As an Engineering Technician Intern, you will support the design and delivery of kerbside and parking schemes. You will contribute to projects aimed at improving road safety, accessibility, and urban mobility, while developing practical experience within a professional transport consultancy environment.

This opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or a related discipline who are looking to gain practical experience in highways and traffic design.

You will gain practical experience in:

• Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD
• Assisting with kerbside layout design, parking bay schemes and traffic management proposals
• Amending and updating Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) drawings
• Producing technical drawings in line with TSRGD and relevant design guidance
• Supporting feasibility studies and preliminary design work
• Reviewing site data, survey outputs and existing highway layouts
• Assisting with swept path analysis and basic vehicle tracking (where applicable)
• Preparing drawing issue packs and revision updates
• Supporting project documentation and technical reports
• Liaising internally with engineers, survey teams and project managers

You will be working within a collaborative design team and will receive mentoring and structured support throughout your internship.
