Partner Blog from Cyclepods

Hello Modeshift Members!

We at Cyclepods hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful autumnal weather, I always find it the perfect time of year to get out and enjoy a leisurely bike ride ????

Cyclepods are well into our ‘show season’ at the moment and you may have met Luc and Ellie at the ‘Smarter Travel Live!’ Conference in Milton Keynes last week! As well as the upcoming Modeshift conference (which we are VERY much looking forward to!), we will also be at the EduKent show on Wednesday 8th November and are happy to be the headline sponsors of the National Cycle-Rail Awards on Thursday 23rd November at Central Hall, Westminster!

You may have heard of the National Cycle-Rail Awards before, which is an annual event run by the Rail Delivery Group. The event features a Panel Debate and Question session which this year will cover a series of issues surrounding cycle-hire and will be chaired by the Bike & Go Business Manager. The panel will be made up of industry experts and previous winners from organisations including Train Operator Company Merseyrail and Santander Cycles.

Cycle-hire is fast becoming the hot new thing for smart towns and cities, as better cycling infrastructure is created there is a real opportunity to get more people on bikes, whether they be tourists or locals who simply want a healthier, cheaper, easier and much more fun way of getting from A to B!

The Cycle-Rail Awards are a fantastic opportunity for those working in partnerships with Train Operating Companies to create seamless cycle-rail integration journeys in your local area. Many rail projects that involve cycling require the input of a Local Authority to ensure cyclists have good routes and infrastructure in and around train stations, with the main goal being the encouragement of cycle-rail journeys for both commuting and leisure purposes.

Key Note Speakers for the event include Jesse Norman MP, Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Roads, Local Transport and Devolution, and Alex Montgomery of Microsoft UK.

Places at the event are limited and delegates must RSVP in order to secure a place but this is a free to attend event and there’s even a drinks reception afterwards which is the perfect opportunity to network!

If you would be interested in attending the Awards on the 23rd November, or would like some more information, please get in touch with Ellie Blackman at Cyclepods – or 01959 546040 – or visit the Cycle-Rail Awards website here,
